Mykonos cleanup - Save The Seas with All For Blue
Another beach & underwater cleanup from our team with the support of Unipharma / Intermed and their team of 30 volunteers in Mykonos Island.
We removed 350kgs of trash from both areas (Kapari & Ftelia) including plastic bags, ropes, car wheels, tubes, cans, cigarette butts, a selfie stick (!), a wallet (!!) etc. Never know what's hiding underwater! We even found a croissant, and a huge rope was entangled in rocks, took us around 45min to remove it with the help from all the scuba divers from the local dive shop.
Many thanks to Mrs Julia Tseti for supporting our organization as it’s the second year in a row that they visit Mykonos and organize a cleanup.
Before the action all volunteers have attended an ocean conservation seminar in Athens from the founder of www.AllForBlue.org Mrs.Katerina Topouzoglou and they received their Project Aware diplomas.
Many thanks to the Port Police of Mykonos for participating in the action, the Mayor of Mykonos Mr Koukas, to Mykonos Diving Center, Gerasimos Voulgaris and to the swimming champions Erietta Papadogianni & Evgenia Skountzou, divers George Tsekouras, Giannis Xanthakis, and Markos Trakas.
All united we can make the difference! Our youngest volunteer was Augoustina, a 4yo girl who came from Syros island and participated at the cleanup with her parents.
