Unsustainable fishing with bottom trawling
Over 200m of trawler nets spread over the reef structures
Among the entangled fish were juveniles and small fish such as bannerfish as well as medium sized fish such as puffer fish. We failed to free a puffer fish entangled at 17m depth in a massive fishing net as it would puff up every time we tried to rescue it.
We freed alive around 20 of the ~50 fish from the nets.
