Delos Cleanup 2025: Protecting Heritage Below the Waves

On April 6th, 2025, All For Blue returned to the sacred island of Delos for the third consecutive year, conducting a meaningful underwater cleanup at the Delos Port. Led by founder Katerina Topouzoglou, a team of four divers dedicated 120 minutes to surveying a 500 m² area, collecting 35 kilograms of debris from depths ranging between 1 and 6 meters.
The most unusual item found was a dress, and the most problematic debris items were tires and rebars. Especially the large tires took up a major part of our divers time and energy, since their removal proved exceedingly difficult and even required the assistance of port police! Furthermore, a large number of hats, bottles and cups was removed frim the seabed.
This cleanup was part of the broader "Keep Mykonos Blue" initiative, implemented in collaboration with the Municipality of Mykonos and the Friends of Mykonos organization, with support from the Ministry of Culture, the Cyclades Preservation Fund, and Nautica.gr. The initiative operates under the auspices of the World Underwater Federation (CMAS) and is approved by the Ministry of Education.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all volunteers, the Mykonos Port Authority, archaeologist Themis Vakoulis, delostours, donblueyachting, Deputy Mayor of Education Marsoula Chanioti, Deputy Mayor of Sanitation Mr. Sachas, and the Agkaliazo Ti Mykono team for their invaluable support.
Every cleanup adds data to the Dive Against Debris global map, ensuring this effort leaves a mark not just in Delos, but around the world.
Together, we continue to protect our oceans and preserve our cultural heritage. 🌍💪🐠
