Due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to rearrange our World Oceans Day celebrations in June.

Join us on the 27th and 28th June to celebrate World Oceans Day and do your bit to protect our beautiful ocean!

We are running two separate activities during the weekend – Dive Against Debris and Crown Of Thorns.

Dive Against Debris Package

This option is open to all levels. Divers are the only people on the planet that have the skills to remove debris from under the waves. Tens of thousands of marine animals and seabirds die every year due to ingesting or becoming entangled in marine debris. During the weekend you will become a certified Dive Against Debris diver so you can do your part in tackling this global issue. After taking part in the specialty course, you will be qualified to plan and execute your own debris removal dives. Plus you will be able to weigh the rubbish you removed from the ocean, sort it and submit all the data to Project AWARE. You’ll complete 3 clean up dives during the weekend and once qualified take your new skills to help other areas in need all around the world!

Crown Of Thorns Package

This option is only available to divers certified as Advanced Open Water or above (or Open Water Divers with more than 50 dives) as you need to have perfect buoyancy in order to inject those pesky Crown of Thorns and avoid getting spiked yourself! You will get an orientation to COTs – why they have become so destructive in Tioman and why we have to take steps to reduce their impact. Plus safety information and operating procedures when injecting. There are a number of sites around Tioman that are under threat because of COTs, we will target the 3 most effected sites to dive during the weekend.

Both packages include return ferry tickets (leaving Mersing on the 27th at 6.00am and returning on the 28th at 4.00pm) and a BBQ on the Saturday night (let’s have a party to celebrate your hard work!). It does not include accommodation. When booking, please let us know what type of room you require (fan, aircon etc.) and also if you’d prefer to stay in Salang or ABC bay and we can quote and arrange this for you. (Depending on availability, fan rooms are in the range of MYR 50.00 to MYR 0.00 per night, standard air con MYR 120.00 to MYR 150.00 per night and deluxe aircon MYR 150.00 to MYR 170.00 per night based on twin sharing.)
