We removed a huge fishing net from this dive site. Interesting, seeing as the site is within a designated Marine Park where fishing is illegal! But, these are the problems we face around Tioman! There have been a number of groups from different dive centres and agencies like Cintai Tioman, Reef Check Malaysia and Marine Parks working on removing this net for over a month. The net that we collected was just a fraction of the total - maybe only 1/5. There were no dead animals seen on the day of the survey, but we have heard that on other occasions there have been entangled fish and crustaceans - some of them dead, other injured and freed but probably died later.

Fishing Nets - drift onto this location from the surrounding ocean, plus used directly on the site

Fishing Line - popular fishing spot for locals and tourists

Plastic styrofoam food containers - popular fishing, snokelling and diving spot and litter is thrown in the water
