Revised Project AWARE Specialty

The newly revised Project AWARE Specialty course provides information and encouragement to help individuals take responsibility for ocean health.

Building on PADI AWARE's popular 10 Tips for Divers to Protect the Ocean Planet, the revised course content is an introduction to PADI AWARE® as a global movement for ocean protection and focuses on guiding participants towards personal commitments and actions they can take to help the environment.

You can keep sessions informal and interactive to adapt the course to the students and your local environment. The Action Workshops at the end of each section include discussion points to help show how the information can be applied. The Knowledge Reviews then form an action plan.

The revised Project AWARE Specialty provides the perfect tool to be a leader in your local community by using the course materials in schools, with the community, youth groups, and others. As a "fins off" course (meaning no dives required), participants need only to have an interest in the aquatic environment or a desire to take action for a clean and healthy ocean to enroll.

For PADI Professionals interested in teaching the revised Project AWARE Specialty, teaching status PADI Assistant Instructors and PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors are automatically eligible to teach the course. PADI Freediver Instructors may qualify by submitting a PADI Freediver Specialty Course Instructor Application. PADI Divemasters who have completed Specialty Instructor training with a PADI Course Director and had their applications verified at their PADI Regional Headquarters also qualify to teach this course.

This video is not a PADI AWARE presentation but a PADI introduction to utilizing the Project AWARE Specialty Course to introduce continuing education, gear promotion as well as conservation. This is a recording of a 2019 PADI Business Academy featuring Ross Neill, PADI Americas Regional Training Consultant.
